With the summer finally arriving, we had glorious weather at Monmouth Regatta where a few crews from Bewdley were competing. All the crews were racing the short Sunday sprint where we had two winners. The first coming from Mick Edmonds in his Vet E singles race over seeing local opposition from Ross to win comfortably. They say the sun shines on the righteous, and it certainly did for the women’s novice double. They had a tough final against Monmouth School, of which they came from behind to become the victors with a win of 2 lengths. The winning crew of Maddy Whiting and Penny Gunn have put in a lot of hard training over the winter in pursuit of their novice win. They are now looking to the National Junior Championships later in the season.
Also returning after over two years of not racing was Rich Jackson – welcome back!
This weekend, the juniors will be racing at Bridgnorth and the Masters at the National Masters Championships.
