At Evesham Regatta last weekend, Bewdley Rowing club’s winners were juniors Kiah Bradley and Sophie Evans competing in the adult women’s novice double sculls category.
With the three hard fought races over the sprint course, the youngsters from Bewdley had to overcome opposition from Gloucester University, Evesham and Llandaff in the final and despite tricky windy conditions showed their class by controlling each race from the word go. For Junior Captain Kiah and Sophie they have now won their sculling novices, for the club they have opened the regatta season with the first pots.
The masters crews from Bewdley in men’s quad sculls, mixed double sculls and Jill Grove in single sculls had good races but couldn’t quite match the speed of their opposition.
With the regatta season now underway and the river Severn at a rowable height, all the crews will now be looking forward to racing At Shrewsbury this weekend where they will be looking to bring home more pots.
Also club members are preparing crews for the Clubs annual Pub & Club Regatta on June 4th.
