Bewdley Rowing Club Team of 13 boys travelled to the inaugural West Midlands Indoor Rowing Championships last weekend, and as well as a medal haul of 3 silver and one bronze medals, came away with personal bests for everyone that took part. With many only having started rowing last year, this was an exceptional achievement for everyone, and the year 12/13 event saw the Bewdley names against 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th place.
Each of the boys took part in an individual event as well as a Team event. With individual races for Year 12 & 13 of 2000meters, Year 11 (6 minutes), Year 10 (5 minutes) and Year 9 (4 minutes), the vast amount of time spent training indoors due to the river Severn flooding for much of the winter certainly paid off for everyone.
Bewdley again showed their strength in the Adult Team events with a second place for (Cameron Barratt, James Myatt, Brendan Wrighton and Sam Clifford) only narrowly losing to a strong Warwick Rowing Club Team.
Who took part:
James Myatt, Cameron Barrett, Brendan Wrighton, Sam Clifford, Joe Smith, Ed Frost, Ben Charlton, Cameron Chuter, Dan Montandon, Nathan Child, Anthony Saich, Tom Kimberley and Tristan Gee.
